IBERIABANK Contributes to Love Our Schools

IBERIABANK, (www.iberiabank.com), recently announced a $15,000 donation to the Love Our Schools project in Lafayette Parish.

Love Our Schools is a local initiative committed to improving educational outcomes in the area. This year, Love Our Schools is supporting eight public schools in the Transformation Zone in Lafayette Parish.

Through nearly 3,000 volunteers, Love Our Schools will perform over 100 revitalization projects on the event day, provide book sacks and supplies to nearly 5,000 children, and support over 700 faculty and staff through donated supplies. The thousands of volunteers will gather on Saturday, August 10th, to accomplish interior and exterior projects like cleaning, painting, landscaping, and playground improvements, all focused on improving the learning environments for students in the community.

Schools to be revitalized include: Acadian Middle School, Alice N. Boucher Elementary School, Carencro Heights Elementary School, Carencro High School, J.W. Faulk Elementary School, Lafayette Middle School, LeRosen Preparatory School, and Northside High School.

Beyond improvements to the schools, nearly 5,000 students will receive backpacks filled with school supplies, and more than 600 teachers and staff will be gifted with much-needed supplies. Created for the purpose of effecting meaningful change, this initiative aims to help foster improved educational outcomes.

What began as Love Acadiana’s desire to help local schools with interior and exterior improvements in the summer of 2017 and 2018 has grown into an incredible outpouring of love and support from local and national organizations.

In cooperation with Lafayette Parish School System, Love Acadiana and the William C. Schumacher Family Foundation joined forces in 2019, renaming the initiative “Love Our Schools.”

“We are proud to support the Love Our Schools effort and commend the William C. Schumacher FamilyFoundation, Love Acadiana, and all others involved for creating meaningful ways to enhance facilities for our community schools,” said Acadiana President Jerry Vascocu. “We hope that our contribution will encourage other individuals and businesses to join in supporting this meaningful effort, which helps to make Lafayette a better place.”

“Once again, IBERIABANK has proven to be an amazing partner in our community. We are humbled by their generosity and are excited that they are partnering with Love Our Schools and the community as we focus on improving educational outcomes,” says Dr. William C. “Kip” Schumacher.
